Victor Alejandro Alvarez Vega (b. 2001, Cuba) lives in Oklahoma City, where he immigrated at the age of two. Rooted in the 1.5-generation experience, his work examines the material, political, and digital lifelines linking the Oklahoma plains to Cuba. A software engineer developing systems for meteorologists, he draws from his background in technical data alongside his working-class immigrant perspective. He combines ready-mades, personal archives, and digital hallucinations to open up a dialogue about modern exile, memory, and watching home from afar. | Art Crit Night supports and strengthens the work of every artist that participates, and promotes critical dialogue among the community members that attend. All participants must be open to the critique process. The process will include presenting your work, receiving feedback from the curator framed in a spirit of positivity and desire to help you progress in your practice, and receiving comments from the audience as these events will be open to the art community in an effort to increase critical dialogue. |
